The scheme will be launched on August 14, following a successful test run review, and eligibility can be checked by sending bill reference and CNIC numbers to 8800. Successful applicants will be notified via SMS, and district administration and DISCOs will verify their credentials.
The Punjab government plans to distribute free solar panels to households consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month starting on Independence Day, August 14. Consumers between 200 and 500 units will receive solar panels at 10% of the cost, with the remaining 90% subsidized by the Punjab government. Payments will be interest-free and spread over five years, and distribution will be handled through banks.
